Meet the Author & Illustrator

Lisa SuhayAuthor Lisa Suhay is an award-winning journalist and is known for several notable children’s books and the children’s symphony The Mouse and the Light, composed by Eric Chappelle. Her writing has appeared frequently in newspapers, magazines and online.

Born in New York City, she now lives in Virginia with her husband and four sons.

Pamela BarcitaIllustrator Pamela Barcita has been the recipient of numerous awards, among them an Athena and an Addy, and was honored by the Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles. Pamela has contributed to more than 20 works, including the Ruby Lee the Bumble Bee children’s series that garnered several awards, including two Benjamin Franklin Awards, the International Gallery Award and the Most Outstanding Children’s Book distinction at the Mom’s Choice Awards™. 

After 18 years of teaching art at the college level, Pamela is now retired and now illustrates full-time in her home studio. She resides with her family, cats and cockatiels in a forested retreat in Virginia.
